However if you’re in distress going up to strangers for help is already difficult enough, as you’ve got no idea how those strangers would respond to you. Yes, the crowd in general at download are pretty helpful and in an ideal world we wouldn’t need pink pins or Angel shots at pubs and clubs. It’s not as simple as you’re stating it is. I know in moments of crisis it’s very hard to think clearly and I really hope these pins are worn honestly and with good intentions. Try not to go off with people one on one if you don’t know them. Look for other people nearby to help you look after the person seeking assistance in any kind of dodgy situation. To the person helping, keep yourselves safe too. Ask for their name, or a picture before going anywhere with them and send it to a friend if you can. If you need to leave an area with someone wearing a pin, maybe stay in a busy area if you’re by yourself with this person. I’d like to add, this is what I would tell my kids - To the person seeking help, please do so safely. The original thought was for people who may feel anxious or struggle with approaching people to ask for help in any sort of situation, if they look for the pink pins - it means the person wearing the pin is happy to be approached and assist in any way they can. I know there’s always the concern of it being taken advantage of by opportunistic assholes and I just wanted to say that although that is definitely something to be aware of, hopefully with common sense and safety in numbers no one gets the chance to take the piss with it.
